The UK Cyber Security Council has renewed its partnership agreements with its three Licensed Bodies - CIISec, The Cyber Scheme, and CREST - extending their licences for a further three years.

The Council, which oversees the UK’s Cyber Security Professional Register, relies on Licensed Bodies to deliver assessments and make recommendations on the award of professional titles. These titles allow practitioners to demonstrate alignment with a government‑backed standard of competence and ethics, an increasingly important benchmark for public bodies, regulated sectors and suppliers working within local government digital environments.

Under the renewed agreements, Licensed Bodies will continue evaluating candidates against the UK Cyber Security Standard of Professional Competence and Commitment, ensuring that assessments remain rigorous, consistent and high‑quality. Each organisation covers distinct specialisms, reflecting the breadth of roles and skills required across the cyber profession.

The UK Cyber Security Council is the self‑regulatory, government‑backed professional body for the UK’s cyber security profession. It was launched as an independent organisation in March 2021 and is incorporated by Royal Charter, giving it formal authority to set nationally recognised professional standards. The UK Cyber Security Council awards four professional titles - Associate, Practitioner, Principal and Chartered.
